Title IX Revenue Provisions-Subtitle A: Revenue Offset "(Sec. 9002) Requires employers to include in the W-2 form of each employee the aggregate cost of applicable employer-sponsored group health coverage that is excludable from the employee's gross income (excluding the value of contributions to flexible spending arrangements)."

Starting in 2011-next year-the W-2 tax form sent by your employer will be increased to show the value of whatever health insurance you are provided.It doesn't matter if you're retired. Your gross income WILL go up by the amount of insurance your employer paid for. So you'll be required to pay taxes on a larger sum of money that you actually received. Take the tax form you just finished for 2009 and see what $15,000.00 or $20,000.00 additional gross income does to your tax debt. That's what you'll pay next year. For many it puts you into a much higher bracket. This is how the government is going to buy insurance for fifteen (15) percent that don't have insurance and it's only part of the tax increases, but it's not really a "tax increase" as such, it a redefinition of your taxable income.

WHATEVER HE RUNS FOR, I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy!
Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.
Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.
We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.
You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.
We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens.
We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood . You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.
You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.
We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.
We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.
You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem." I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World".
We'll practice trickle down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.
Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

1. The American people inaugurate a half-Arab president with a total of 142 days experience as a US Senator from the most politically corrupt state (city) in America whose governors have been ousted from office. The President's first official act is to order the close of Gitmo and make
sure Terrorists civil rights are not violated. (honest mistake?)

2. The U.S. Congress rushes to confirm a black Attorney General, Eric Holder, whose law firm we later find out represents seventeen GitmoTerrorists. (An honest mistake?!)

3. The CIA Boss appointee, Leon Panetta, has absolutely no experience, has a daughter Linda, we find out, who is a true radical anti-American activist and a supporter of all the Anti-American regimes in the western hemisphere. (There were socio-economic factors involved!)

4. We got the second most corrupt American woman (Pelosi is #1) asSecretary of State; bought and paid for. (You can put lipstick on a pig,but it still stinks!)

5. We got a Tax Cheat for Treasury Secretary who did not properly file his
own taxes for 12 years. (He misspoke!)

6. A Commerce Secretary nominee who withdrew due to corruption charges. (Another honest mistake???)

7. A Tax cheat nominee for Chief Performance Officer who withdrew undercharges. (Hmmm... Another screw-up?)

8. A Labor Secretary nominee who withdrew under charges of unethical conduct. (Ok, maybe this person was just plain stupid.)

9. A Secretary HHS nominee (Daschle) who withdrew under charges of cheating on his taxes. (I'm running out of excuses for these idiots!!)

10. Multiple appointments of former lobbyists after an absolute campaign statement that no lobbyists would be appointed. (Dear God, I am getting a headache!)

All this occurred just during the first three weeks. . . But who'scounting?

America is being run by the modern-day Three Stooges ; Barry , Nancy andHarry and they are still trying to define stimulus..."it's spending!!!"

The congress passes the $800,000,000,000 (that's $800 billion)pork-loadedspending bill where the government gives you a smidgen of your tax dollars ($13 per week), making you feel so good about yourself [stimulated], that you want to run out to Wal-Mart and buy a new Chinese-made HDTV and go home and watch Telemundo! Here's the good news though - Obama took Air Force One to Denver to sign the stimulus package, wasting as much as 10,000 gallons of fuel OR 24 JOBS FOR ONE YEAR. Don't you just love hypocrites?

Obama went to theInternational Olympic Committee to have them choose Chicago for a host city, he failed.
Obama went to Copenhagen to lecture them on global warming, he failed.
Obama went to new Jersey to promote the Democratic candidate for governor, he failed.

I HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT IN THE YEAR 2012..HERE IS MY PLATFORM:
(1). Any use of the phrase: 'Press 1 for English' is immediately BANNED!!!. English is the official language; speak it or wait outside of our borders until you can.
(2). We will immediately go into a two year isolationist attitude in order to straighten out the greedy big business posture in this country. America will allow NO imports, and we'll do no exports. We will use the 'Wal-Mart 's policy,'If we ain't got it, you don't need it.' We'll make it here and sell it here!
(3). When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it coming in here.
(4). All retired military personnel will be required to man one of the many observation towers located on the southern border of the United States (six month tour). They will be under strict orders not to fire on SOUTHBOUND aliens.
(5). Social Security will immediately return to its original state. If you didn't put nuttin in, you AIN'T gettin nuttin out. Neither the President nor any other politician will be able to touch it.(6). Welfare. -- Checks will be handed out on Fridays, at the end of the 40 hour school week, the successful completion of a urinalysis test for drugs, and passing grades.
(7). Professional Athletes -- Steroids? The FIRST time you check positive you're banned from sports ... for life.
(8). Crime -- We will adopt the Turkish method, i.e., the first time you steal, you lose your right hand. There is no more 'life sentences'. If convicted of murder, you will be put to death by the same method you chose for the victim you killed: gun, knife, strangulation, etc.

On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations.

By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments.
These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.
Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws.
Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke or a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he hadnever failed a single student before, but had once failed an entireclass. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and thatno one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this classon Obama's plan". All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same gradeso no one would fail and no one would receive an A... After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studiedlittle were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students whostudied little had studied even less and the ones who studied harddecided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blameand name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would studyfor the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It".

'Senator' Obama replied:"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides". "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.." Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America 's future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America 's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.
That's why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America .

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.
Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.
In the time of Barack Obama, Black Panther members stand outside polling places in black commando uniforms, slapping truncheons into their palms. ACORN - a taxpayer-supported organization - is given a role in taking the census, even after its members were caught on tape offering advice to set up child prostitution rings. A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

I don't know about you, but the other day I was at the courthouse doing some business, and I stepped into the court clerk's office and changed my voter affiliation from "Independent" to "Republican." I am under no illusion that the Republican party is perfect, but at least they're starting to awaken to the fact that we cannot sustain massive levels of debt; we cannot afford to hand out billions of dollars in corporate subsidies; we have to somehow trim our massive entitlement programs; we can no longer be the world's policeman and dole out billions in aid to countries whose citizens seek to harm us.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing, they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 years - the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying.

The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession. The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business, and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the government.

However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. Major portions of the Constitution of the United States have effectively have been destroyed. The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people, and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care. This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal healthcare records, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital.

You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide. If you decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if you have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator appointed by Obama, there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a tax instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the due process of law. So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law.

It doesn't stop there though.

The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;

The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control. I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution." If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable. For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the source, the US Constitution, and Bill of Rights. There you can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.

For those that don't know about history...... here is a condensed version.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were:

1. The invention of beer, and
2. The invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer.

These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years Conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels t han their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history.......

It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above.

A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off....

Our 2 year old Boxer, Jax got out of our fence last night about 8pm. We have searched for him all over the city of Bessemer down every ally and street. A lady a few blocks over said she saw him last night and thought it was her dog. He was headed toward downtown Bessemer on 16th street. If you are out and about the next few days please keep your eyes peeled. He is very skittish and runs from strangers. If you see him please call me at 281-7299. He is fawn in color with white socks. He weighs between 95 and 110 pounds and is wearing a brown collar. Here are a few photos...........

I have not had much time for writing lately with Christmas shopping, wrapping gifts, babysitting and working. Instead, to hold your interest, I thought I would share one of my favorite Christmas recipes with you.

Tequila Christmas Cookies

1 cup of water1 tsp baking soda1 cup of sugar1 tsp salt1 cup or brown sugar4 large eggs1 cup nuts2 cups of dried fruit1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila
Sample the Cuervo to check quality.

Take a large bowl,check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality,pour one level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butterin a large fluffy bowl.
Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again. At this pointit's best to make sure the Cuervo is still ok, try anothercup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cupof dried fruit.
Pick the frigging fruit off the floor.
Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters just pryit loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who geevesa sheet. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.Error! Filename not specified.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you canfind.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fallover.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish theCose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.

6 year olds,Crayons and lies....

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs recently ridiculed Gallop Poll numbers that show obama's record low approval rating at 47 percent. This is the lowest approval rating of any president in 70 years. G.W. Bush had an 83% approval rating at this point in his presidential career.

It is rather comical to me how Mr Gibbs, born in Auburn Alabama and a North Carolina State grad, uses the Gallop Poll when they benefit the administration. Such as when he quoted Gallup poll numbers to show support for obama's stimulus plan. A plan that put us further into debt and one that most 6 year olds with crayons would have voted no to if given the chance.

Gibbs even sent out the following email to reporters that praised the findings of the Poll

"As President Barack Obama heads to Indiana and Florida over the next two days to sell his economic stimulus plan to a somewhat skeptical Congress, White House and congressional Democrats are moving around new poll data that suggests the public is broadly supportive of the bill.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs sent out an email to reporters this morning touting the data -- from a Gallup survey -- that showed roughly two-thirds of the public approves of the way Obama is handling the passage of the economic stimulus package while just 31 percent say the same of congressional Republicans."

When they speak volumes about the ineffectiveness of obama he likens them to a wildly fluctuating EKG, labeling their results as the equivalent of ‘a 6-year-old with a crayon.'

Now, about obama's speech on job creation at the Brookings Institute.

What can I say? It was more of the same. He used the letter "I" 44 times in this speech and took 5 opportunities to blame current problems on the Bush Administration.

In one instance he says that when he took office, America was 1.8 Trillion in debt. Really? Now we are over 8 trillion in debt! I guess that is Bush's fault also.

He also says this about the TARP program "no program" has been "more necessary" to digging the country out of the economic hole". Hahahaha, are you serious. Have you seen deficit numbers?

He dinged the Bush administration for assembling the TARP program in a way that was "understandably" hasty but not well thought out and noted (obama voted yes to TARP) that his administration had fixed those implementation problems.

I won't bore you with commentary on the whole speech.....here it is in a nutshell

What a birthday! The only way this one could have been better was if my family had been there with me, oh and maybe I win the lottery with the tickets I bought on the way home. We arrived in Atlanta around 3pm Friday. As we waited for other friends to arrive we stood on the balcony overlooking Baker Street and listened as the Gator fans yelled and taunted us. Our hotel was full of Gator fans. We took it all in, knowing after the game we would have our fun.

Our other friends arrived and we left for the Hudson Grill. We call a taxi and give the driver the address and name of the place, She drives and drives as we watch the meter increase with every minute. We arrive at the Hudson Grill in Buckhead where we believe there to be a Pep Rally complete with cheerleaders, Big Al and the like. We pay the taxi driver 35 bucks! The place was full of Bama fans, however it was not as crowded as we expected. We asked the hostess about the Pep Rally and she says it's at the other Hudson Grill! What??? Have we been duped? The taxi driver spoke her best spanglish but obviously did not understand our directions.

Frustrated but not deterred we call yet another taxi. This time the guy takes us straight there. The place was packed and we were hungry. We knew we would not get anything to eat waiting on the "beeper" to go off that would signal our table was ready. We made our way to the balcony where we found a waitress without much to do. She takes our order and we eat in the frigid Atlanta air.

We get up Saturday morning and make our way to the Innisfree Tailgate party by gate A.

We froze to death for several hours until we decided to go the the Conference center and visit SEC Fanfare. Once again, packed with obnoxious Gator fans!

We got to see Bergwood!

Game time brought excitement. As the fans made their way to their seats I wondered where all the Gator fans were. The Bama seats were filled at least 30 minutes before game time. I got to see my wife's Aunt and Uncle whom I had no idea would be there. I also noticed fans of other Schools had made the game. Auburn, South Carolina, Miami and even a pack of Penn State fans were in attendance.

As we held Florida to 3 and out on the first possession, I thought to myself, this thing is over! Alabama totally dominated Florida in every aspect of the game. I now know why we struggled against auburn. Maybe the team thought auburn would be easy like the 2008 contest. Maybe they had their minds on ripping the Gators apart. Whatever the case Alabama is the best team in the country and has been all year and will be after we play the Longhorns in Pasadena California on January 7th 2009.

I noticed toward the end of the 3rd quarter the gator fans had left the building amid the chants "go home gators" and "Tebow", "Tebow", "Tebow" as they showed Timmy crying on the jumbo tron.

It's over Gators. You had a nice run but it is Alabama's turn now! We have a tradition of winning at Alabama, more so than any other school in the country. Our recent success is made even sweeter by knowing all the turmoil the program has gone through. Coaches like Mike Price, Dennis Franchone and Mike Dubose have left the program in a state of disarray. I have a feeling we will enjoy much more success in the coming years!

After the game we returned to our room! Still no Gator's! They had turned in or left town! We ordered a pizza and watched the Texas vs. Nebraska game!

From the Sand Pit. It's freezing here. I'm sitting on hard, cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains , along the Dar 'yoi Pomir River , watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.I also glance at the area around my a** every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting. I've actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but them scorpions give a jolt like a cattle prod. Hurts like a bastard. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid, but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water. That requires couriers and that's where an old bounty hunter like me comes in handy. I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances & storage facilities, type the info into the handheld, and shoot the coordinates up to the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the hardware. We bash some heads for a while, and then I track and record the new movement.It's all about intelligence.. We haven't even brought in the snipers yet. These scurrying rats have no idea what they're in for. We are but days away from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.I dream of bin Laden waking up to find me standing over him with my boot on his throat as I spit into his face and plunge my K-Bar through his frontal lobe. But you know me, I'm a romantic. I've said it before and I'll say it again: This country blows, man. It's not even a country. There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit sh** hole ruled by eleventh century warring tribes. There are no jobs here like we know jobs.Afghanistan offers two ways for a man to support his family: join the opium trade or join the army. That's it. Those are your options. They LIVE to fight. It's what they do. It's ALL they do! They have no respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor. Yeah, they're real smart.They've spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They're still trying to figure out how to work a Bic lighter. Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.OK, enough. Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I'm good at it.Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter bullsh** and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials. In hussein's speech last night, he announced he would send an additional 30 thousand troops to Afghanistan. It's about time! Our troops have been sitting, waiting on a decision. obama says they have been calling for more troops since 2001. Donald Rumsfeld called the president out on this saying that if they had been calling for more troops he never heard them. Once again like a 5 year old, obama takes a stab at the Bush administration. Really, what have you done obama? You have waited nearly a year after having General McChrystal's recommendation on your desk. You need to stop focusing on the shortcomings on the mostly ineffective 2nd term of the Bush administration and move on. Do what is right for America!

I agree with sending more troops to Afghanistan, however I don't think you can put a timeline on it. It may take 3 months or it could take 3 years. With the governments record with estimating, budgets, time frames and the like, I am lead to believe it will take much longer than the 18th months obama has allowed for in his announcement. With a recent Rasmussen poll proving that 71% of Americans are angry with the direction our country is headed, it seemed obama was talking out both sides of his neck.

So....after bowing to our enemies, now we announce to the whole world when and where and for how long we will attack them. Seems we are long removed from Operation Shock and Awe. Do I expect anything less from this "president"? No! In fact I'm shocked that he is not fighting the war by himself, using only diplomacy. He used the letter "I" 47 times in his speech at West Point. As if he alone made this decision. I think he had a little help in making the decision. Maybe he is finally realizing that muslims want to kill us. Oh wait, he knows they are because he is one.

Ramping up troop levels is a good idea! Now lets see how he plans to pay for it. Here's an Idea. If it costs 100 billion why not have Afghanistan pay us 200 billion to help them out. This would decrease the deficit at a rapid rate. If you need the American military to help your country it will cost you! The economy improves and taxes go down........everyone is happy!

I got a call today from a friend saying that bob(left wing,radical person from down the street) had replied to my reply to the column he wrote in the paper. I don't visit his site and I won't expose any of you to it. As a conservative, his rhetoric is enough to make vomiting sound fun. I asked my friend to paraphrase his response. Seems that bob is confused. He has a problem with all that is conservative. If you don't believe as he does then you are wrong. He does not feel you should speak out for what you believe , only so called "progressives" should be allowed to do so. His beliefs undermine "his equality for all" stance that he is always preaching. What he does not get(because he is lead by guilt, sin and the misgivings of those in power) is that the progress he is for will never come from taxing anything and everything we Americans buy, use, do and say. It's plain and simple stupidity to think otherwise. He also points out that democrats did not remove prayer from schools or take the Ten Commandments from government buildings. He points out that the Supreme Court did this. Really, they just came up with this idea and ruled on it? No, democrats cried and whined that it offended them, got it to court and it was then ruled on by democratic judges and the like. He also finds it necessary to point out that Jefferson County and Bessemer were won by obama during the election. Maybe that is why Jefferson county almost went bankrupt and Bessemer has a Mayor who is much like Leapin Larry Langford. Since the democrats have taken office in the area, both city and county governments have taken a turn for the worse. Crime, in the streets and in government have increased rapidly in the modern era in our area. I won't reply to anymore of his personal attacks against me or my beliefs. I'll just let him have all the fun!

Recently this blog was the subject of a news article written by a Bessemer man who claims to be the "voice of progressives of Bessemer". I refuse to mention this person's name or the name of the little - read newspaper he writes for. This person, in writing this article, reassures me that he is full of hatred for America(and for me) and will stop at nothing to spread the lies and criminal agenda of his leader barak hussien obama(intentionally misspelled). As I have stated before, if you are a progressive, democrat or follower of obama and this blog pisses you off.......go away! This guy, whom we will call bob evidently views my blog daily and gets pissed off.

bobb starts his column by saying something like, we are closer to controlling health care for all Americans. I think he meant that the government is closer to controlling every aspect of American life. At least that's what his leaders goal is. I can't find the quote nor do I care to go through the trouble to google it but someone once said that America could be brought to it's knees without even using bullets. I believe that is the intent of the democrat party. By adding so many taxes the America as we know it will be broke. Half of you paycheck or more will go in the pockets of the criminal on the hill. Government gets fat and the middle class disappears.

He says that I am anti-American, anti-obama, anti health care reform. He is correct on the second two counts. He goes on to say I have offered no solutions. This draws me back to a line I just typed. Maybe he does not visit my blog daily. He would see that I have mentioned allowing Insurance companies to compete across state lines to draw premiums down. He says the Republicans don't have a bill. To me, that is much better than the one democrats have!

The other problems he mentions have been created or made worse by his leader. The economy-obama admitted that his "bailout" was a mistake. Really, you give billions to companies who have misspent money for years and expect that to work? I guess hussien had to repay his largest campaign contributors!

Two Wars-obama has met with General Stanley McCrystal 1 time in 11 months and refuses to take action or even respond to the call for more troops. This is the most pressing issue at hand and all he is focused on is putting America deeper into debt and stealing money from the working class and giving it to those who refuse to work.

The environment-what about it? Is he speaking of the mythical creation of "global warming"? This spawn of the democrat party as a way to embezzle more taxes from the American people? Laughable at best!

Thinking about selling your house - A look at H.R. 2454 (Cap and trade bill) This is unbelievable!

Only the beginning from this administration! Home owners take note & tell your friends and relatives who are home owners!

Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. H.R. 2454, the "Cap & Trade" bill passed by the House of Representatives, if also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced. The Congressional Budget Office (supposedly non-partisan) estimates that in just a few years the average cost to every family of four will be $6,800 per year. No one is excluded. However, once the lower classes feel the pinch in their wallets, you can be sure these voters get a tax refund (even if they pay no taxes at all) to offset this new cost. Thus, you Mr. and Mrs. Middle Class America will have to pay even more since additional tax dollars will be needed to bail out everyone else.
But wait. This awful bill (that no one in Congress has actually read) has many more surprises in it. Probably the worst one is this: A year from now you won't be able to sell your house. Yes, you read that right. The caveat is (there always is a caveat) that if you have enough money to make required major upgrades to your home, then you can sell it. But, if not, then forget it. Even pre-fabricated homes ("mobile homes") are included. In effect, this bill prevents you from selling your home without the permission of the EPA administrator.. To get this permission, you will have to have the energy efficiency of your home measured. Then the government will tell you what your new energy efficiency requirement is and you will be forced to make modifications to your home under the retrofit provisions of this Act to comply with the new energy and water efficiency requirements. Then you will have to get your home measured again and get a license (called a "label"in the Act) that must be posted on your property to show what your efficiency rating is; sort of like the Energy Star efficiency rating label on your refrigerator or air conditioner. If you don't get a high enough rating, you can't sell. And, the EPA administrator is authorized to raise the standards every year, even above the automatic energy efficiency increases built into the Act. The EPA administrator, appointed by the President, will run the Cap & Trade program (AKA the "American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009") and is authorized to make any future changes to the regulations and standards he alone determines to be in the government's best interest. Requirements are set low initially so the bill will pass Congress; then the Administrator can set much tougher new standards every year.
The Act itself contains annual required increases in energy efficiency for private and commercial residences and buildings. However, the EPA administrator can set higher standards at any time. Sect. 202 Building Retrofit Program mandates a national retrofit program to increase the energy efficiency of all existing homes across America . Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. You had better sell soon, because the standards will be raised each year and will be really hard (i.e., ex$pen$ive) to meet in a few years. Oh, goody! The Act allows the government to give you a grant of several thousand dollars to comply with the retrofit program requirements IF you meet certain energy efficiency levels. But, wait, the State can set additional requirements on who qualifies to receive the grants. You should expect requirements such as"can't have an income of more than $50K per year", "home selling price can't be more than $125K", or anything else to target the upper middle class (and that's YOU) and prevent them from qualifying for the grants. Most of us won't get a dime and will have to pay the entire cost of the retrofit out of our own pockets. More transfer of wealth, more "change you can believe in." Sect. 204 Building Energy Performance Labeling Program establishes a labeling program that for each individual residence will identify the achieved energy efficiency performance for "at least 90 percent of the residential market within 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act."
This means that within 5 years 90% of all residential homes in the U.S. must be measured and labeled.. The EPA administrator will get $50M each year to enforce the labeling program. The Secretary of the Department of Energy will get an additional $20M each year to help enforce the labeling program. Some of this money will, of course, be spent on coming up with tougher standards each year.
Oh, the label will be like a license for your car. You will be required to post the label in a conspicuous location in your home and will not be allowed to sell your home without having this label. And, just like your car license, you will probably be required to get a new label every so often - maybe every year. But, the government estimates the cost of measuring the energy efficiency of your home should only cost about $200 each time. Remember what they said about the auto smog inspections when they first started: that in California it would only cost $15. That was when the program started. Now the cost is about $50 for the inspection and certificate; a 333% increase.. Expect the same from the home labeling program. Sect. 304 Greater Energy Efficiency in Building Codes establishes new energy efficiency guidelines for the National Building Code and mandates at 304(d) that 1 year after enactment of this Act, all state and local jurisdictions must adopt the National Building Code energy efficiency provisions or must obtain a certification from the federal government that their state and/or local codes have been brought into full compliance with the National Building Code energy efficiency standards.

As the Senate prepares for debate on Sen. Harry Reid’s “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (HR 3590), which has been dubbed by some pundits as Obamacare 2.0, we want to offer you an overview of the bill. The staff of Sen. Mitch McConnell has released a short summary of the Reid/Obama health care plan. Solutions that promote better individual health and wellness; promote health care financing to bring more consumerism and competition to the insurance market; medical malpractice reforms, and rooting out fraud and waste in the government-run programs of Medicare and Medicaid, amongst others, are not part of the Reid/Obama plan.

SHORT SUMMARY OF SENATE HEALTH CARE REFORM BILL
· Total Number of Pages: 2074
· Spending: The cost of the bill is $2.5 trillion over 10 years of full implementation (2014-2023).
· Taxes Increases: Taxes will go up $493.6 billion—nearly half a trillion dollars.
· Medicare Cuts: Medicare will be cut $464.6 billion—another half a trillion dollars.
· Abortion: The bill permits the use of accounting gimmicks that will, for the first time, allow federal dollars to go to plans covering abortion. The bill does not include the Stupak language, and as a result, National Right to Life describes the Reid bill language as “completely unacceptable” and said it would “result in coverage of abortion on demand in two big new federal government programs.”
· Government Plan: The bill includes a government-run plan and provides states with the possibility of opting out of participating in that plan. According to CBO, the government-run plan “would typically have premiums that were somewhat higher than the average premiums for the private plans in the exchanges.”
· Employer Mandate: The bill will impose $28 billion in new taxes on employers that do not provide government-approved health plans. These new taxes will ultimately be paid by American workers in the form of reduced wages and lost jobs.

ADDITIONAL CBO BACKGROUND:

· The bill would bend the federal cost-curve up. CBO says, “Under the legislation, federal outlays for health care would increase during the 2010–2019 period, as would the federal budgetary commitment to health care.” The coverage expansion would drive a net increase in government spending on health by $160 billion over 10 years.

· CBO scored the bill as reducing the deficit by $130 billion over FYs 2010-2019.
o However, CBO notes that the bill includes two budget gimmicks that hide the true cost of the bill. Doctors are assumed to get a 23 percent cut in 2011 which would carry into subsequent years. Fixing the SGR would cost $247 billion. Additionally, the CLASS Act generates $72 billion over the budget window, but later turns to deficits. Eliminating these two gimmicks means the bill would be $189 billion in the red. It would also put the real cost of the bill over a trillion dollars.
· The start dates for the individual mandate, exchanges, and employer penalties were all moved from July 1, 2013, to January 1, 2014.
o This is another budget gimmick to hide the true cost of the bill.
· 24 million people would be left without insurance.
· Unfunded mandates on the states: The bill mandates that states spend an additional $25 billion in Medicaid expenditures
· Taxes on uninsured individuals would total $8 billion.
· Taxes on employers from the “free-rider” penalty would total $28 billion.
· 5 million Americans would lose their employer coverage.
· Cuts to Medicare include: Permanent reductions in the annual updates to Medicare’s payment rates for most services in the fee-for-service sector of $192 billion; $118 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage; $43 billion in DSH cuts; $23 billion in unspecified cuts by the Medicare Advisory Board.
· Only 19 million people will get a subsidy to help them buy health insurance.
o None of the 162 million people with employer-based care will even be eligible for a subsidy.
· The government plan would have higher premiums than private plans. CBO said the government plan would “typically have premiums that were somewhat higher than the average premiums for the private plans in the exchanges.”
o With the opt-out provision, two-thirds of Americans are expected to have a government plan available in their state.
o Co-ops are included but would have “very little effect.”
· The CLASS Act would reduce deficits by $72 billion in the 10-year budget window, but “would begin to increase budget deficits” in the decade following 2029.
· The IRS would need $5-$10 billion to expand and implement the provisions in the bill.
· The costs of the subsidies in the exchange would grow at 8 percent a year.
· The tax on high value plans will quickly be applied to almost all plans. CBO expects the revenues from the Cadillac Plan tax to grow at 10-15 percent per year outside the budget window.
· Includes a $15 billion “Prevention and Public Health Fund” slush fund.
· CBO says it would be “difficult” to maintain the predicted savings over a long period of time—meaning that the plan will likely run deficits when savings do not materialize.

I am glad it's Friday! It's been a long week. Next week will be a short one as we get ready for Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? I have alot to be thankful for. My wife and three little girls, my family, my job and my health just to name a few. I am happy with my life!

Watching the news last night I learned that the liberal estimate for the cost of the health care bill would be about 850 Billion. Then I change the channel and find out that is wrong and it will be 2.5 Trillion. If it passes, we will start paying taxes on it immediately and won't see it take effect until 2014.

Here is a list of SOME of the taxes we will be paying...

Excise tax on charitable hospitals
Tax on innovator drug companies
Medical device manufacturing
Tax Health insurance
Medicare payroll tax
Blue cross blue shield tax hike
Tax on cosmetic medical procedures
The medicine cabinet tax - You are no longer allowed to use health savings accounts or are no longer allowed to use flexible spending accounts or health reimbursement on pretax dollars to purchase nonprescription over-the-counter medicines except for insulin.
The employer mandate tax - If an employer does not offer health care coverage and at least one employee, at least one employee qualifies for a health tax credit the employer must pay an additional nondeductible tax of $750 for all full-time employees. FOR ALL EMPLOYERS REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES

Then there is a tax that will hurt the most, the Income Surtax. If you are single in 2014 you pay an extra $95, in 2015 you will pay an extra $350 and in 2015 an extra $750.

If you are single plus one, 2015 you pay $700, and 2016 you will pay $1500. In an additional health care surtax.

Those are just the surcharges!

If you decide not to buy Government Health care you will pay an additional $2250.00 or 8% of your income.

We must stop this legislation. This plan will break America. The government can't even run Medicare correctly. How will they run it for everyone?

We won't be able to afford it as companies raise prices to cover all the new taxes they will be paying. We will be reduced to a impoverished country!

Let me ask you this. If your taxes go up by 1/3, groceries, gas, clothing and all services go up any at all and your employer starts cutting your hours to cover the extra they have to pay, just to stay in business, will you be able to afford it?

You Women should be ANGRY!

Yesterday a federal advisory board (not a single Oncologist among them) decided that from now on Women should wait another 10 years to have a mammogram performed. The American Cancer Society said it disagrees with the findings of the task force and continues to recommend annual screening, including mammograms, for all women beginning 40 and over.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, D-Florida, who was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer at 41, called the panel's recommendations "really disturbing" and "absolutely irresponsible."

The Preventive Services Task Force reviews medical data and bases recommendations on effectiveness and risks involved. It is composed of 16 health care experts, none of whom are oncologists.

We are here folks! Not only will your tax dollars be used for the slaughter of unborn Babies, it will prevent women from recieving preimptive testing for breast cancer. This government agency will tell you that testing is not needed. Cancer is beatable if diagnosed early on. With these new restraints wich are sure to be inforced by obamacare, you will not know you have cancer until it's too late.

In other words, if you get cancer the government will say it's too expensive to treat and since you are 50 or over you won't be paying taxes that much longer.....so we won't get the money we spend to fight your cancer back in taxes.........so just die!

This sounds harsh, I know.....but open your eyes, it's happening.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Wednesday, "My message to women is simple. Mammograms have always been an important life-saving tool in the fight against breast cancer, and they still are today."

"This is how rationing begins," said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee. "This is the little toe in the edge of the water. And this is where you start getting a bureaucrat between you and your physician."

If you think this is wrong, write your senator and let him/her know that they will be voted out of office if they vote yes for the healthcare bill!

Another thing. If you are a left winger, progressive democrat, liberal activist or if you agree with or are happy with the obama administration, this blog is not for you! Sarah Palin's book is now on sale. I have heard alot of hoopla surrounding it. I plan to read it one day(time permiting). Will you be buying a copy? Palin is being tight lipped about weather she plans to run for President in 2012. The only issue I see with her being president is that the Terrorists and people from the Middle East do not respect women. It may be a problem for her dealing with those crazies, we will just have to wait and see. If she does run and wins, she should be primed and ready to deal with those crazies after dealing with the radical progressives in this country. They are alot like terrorists themselves! Shotgun Pre-teen vs. Illegal Alien Home Invaders:
Butte, Montana November 5, 2007

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things:

(a) They were in Montana, and

(b) Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David O'Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff like this never makes it onto NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC News?

Here an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself . . . against two murderous, illegal immigrants . . .. and she wins.
She is still alive. Poor David O’Burien is not so lucky.

This jesture was disrespectful to our country, it's past and future leaders and all of it's citizens. He even went so far as to give a deeper bow than he did to the King of Saudi Arabia. I have not looked into it but I bet you won't find another instance of an American president bowing to foriegn leader. This man is a disgrace to America and the office of president. Citizens who voted for him should be ashamed. Most are, however hateful radical progressives think he is sliced bread. They follow him like a cult leader and will never admit he has done wrong.

As I sit this morning and watch my wife set up our Christmas Village at our home, I wonder how long we will have the freedom to do so? All the religious holidays we celebrate and the freedom we have to speak up about what we believe in are being threatened by the democratic regime lead by barak hussien obama and his czars at the White House. The democrats have already taken prayer from schools and the not so great president of this great country won't even cover his heart while singing the national anthem. What is this country becoming? Is America really this gullible? Do his followers really believe his lies? This president lashes out at Fox news every chance he gets. No president has ever thought it necessary to reprimand a news organization. He knows Fox can and probably will uncover him for the fraud that he is. Americans as individuals are called racists if they don't agree with his criminalistic ideas. Where are we headed? To this American it sounds as if we are headed toward becoming a communist nation. Will you let that happen? Will you stand for your constitutional rights? They want to take your guns, your freedom of speech and your right to select the health care provider you want. They want to decide what items are available in vending machines and they want to tell you how to raise your kids. I could go on and on. Will you stand for any of this? I won't! Call your senator and let them know they will lose their seat if they vote YES for obamacare. Talk to people you come in contact with every day and let them know what is happening. It's time to lift our voices and say NO to communism!

It Don't Cost Nuthin' to be Nice

At a Touchdown Club meeting many years before his death, Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant told the following story:

I had just been named the new head coach at Alabama and was off in my old car down in South Alabama recruiting a prospect who was supposed to have been a pretty good player and I was havin' trouble finding the place. Getting hungry I spied an old cinder block building with a small sign out front that simply said "Restaurant."

I pull up, go in and every head in the place turns to stare at me. Seems I'm the only white fella in the place. But the food smelled good so I skip a table and go up to a cement bar and sit. A big ole man in a tee shirt and cap comes over and says, "What do you need?" I told him I needed lunch and what did they have today? He says, "You probably won't like it here, today we're having chitlins, collared greens and black eyed peas with cornbread. I'll bet you don't even know what chitlins (small intestines of hogs prepared as food in the deep South) are, do you?" I looked him square in the eye and said, "I'm from Arkansas , I've probably eaten a mile of them. Sounds like I'm in the right place." They all smiled as he left to serve me up a big plate. When he comes back he says, "You ain't from around here then?"

I explain I'm the new football coach up in Tuscaloosa at the University and I'm here to find whatever that boy's name was and he says, yeah I've heard of him, he's supposed to be pretty good. And he gives me directions to the school so I can meet him and his coach.

As I'm paying up to leave, I remember my manners and leave a tip, not too big to be flashy, but a good one and he told me lunch was on him, but I told him for a lunch that good, I felt I should pay.

The big man asked me if I had a photograph or something he could hang up to show I'd been there. I was so new that I didn't have any yet. It really wasn't that big a thing back then to be asked for, but I took a napkin and wrote his name and address on it and told him I'd get him one.

I met the kid I was lookin' for later that afternoon and I don't remember his name, but do remember I didn't think much of him when I met him. I had wasted a day, or so I thought.

When I got back to Tuscaloosa late that night, I took that napkin from my shirt pocket and put it under my keys so I wouldn't forget it. Back then I was excited that anybody would want a picture of me. The next day we found a picture and I wrote on it, "Thanks for the best lunch I've ever had."

Now let's go a whole buncha years down the road. Now we have black players at Alabama and I'm back down in that part of the country scouting an offensive lineman we sure needed. Y'all remember, (and I forget the name, but it's not important to the story), well anyway, he's got two friends going to Auburn and he tells me he's got his heart set on Auburn too, so I leave empty handed and go on see some others while I'm down there...

Two days later, I'm in my office in Tuscaloosa and the phone rings and it's this kid who just turned me down, and he says, "Coach, do you still want me at Alabama ?" And I said, "Yes I sure do." And he says OK, he'll come. And I say, "Well son, what changed your mind?" And he said, "When my grandpa found out that I had a chance to play for you and said no, he pitched a fit and told me I wasn't going nowhere but Alabama, and wasn't playing for nobody but you. He thinks a lot of you and has ever since y'all met." Well, I didn't know his granddad from Adam's housecat so I asked him who his granddaddy was and he said, "You probably don't remember him, but you ate in his restaurant your first year at Alabama and you sent him a picture that he's had hung in that place ever since. That picture's his pride and joy and he still tells everybody about the day that Bear Bryant came in and had chitlins with him."

"My grandpa said that when you left there, he never expected you to remember him or to send him that picture, but you kept your word to him and to Grandpa, that's everything. He said you could teach me more than football and I had to play for a man like you, so I guess I'm going to."

I was floored. But I learned that the lessons my mama taught me were always right. It don't cost nuthin' to be nice. It don't cost nuthin' to do the right thing most of the time, and it costs a lot to lose your good name by breakin ' your word to someone.

When I went back to sign that boy, I looked up his Grandpa and he's still running that place, but it looks a lot better now; and he didn't have chitlins that day, but he had some ribs that woulda made Dreamland proud and I made sure I posed for a lot of pictures; and don't think I didn't leave some new ones for him, too, along with a signed football.

I made it clear to all my assistants to keep this story and these lessons in mind when they're out on the road. If you remember anything else from me, remember this. It really doesn't cost anything to be nice, and the rewards can be unimaginable..

Senior Health Care Solution

I was just sent an email that I thought was funny.

So you're a senior citizen and the government says no health care for you, what do you do? Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. Your are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all the health care you need! New teeth, no problem. Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered. And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.

Of course I don't condone killing anyone and I don't think people kill for this reason....OK maybe some.

A Gardendale man who is currently serving and 18month sentence in the Federal Prison in Atlanta was sentenced yesterday on the State portion of his crime. He was sentenced to 2 years in a State correctional facility for defrauding tax payers and beneficiaries of the medicare system. He stole 75k from you and I and those older than us by stealing powered wheel chairs and Durable Medical Equipment. He also received 5 years probation and 8 years additional if he commits other crimes while on probation. This guy happens to be my wifes ex-husband.
